HKCEC is home to international conferences
(Hong Kong, 14 February 2011) Located in the heart of the world’s most vibrant city and freest economy, the award-winning Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) offers 91,500 square metres of prime rentable space for conferences, meetings, exhibitions, corporate functions, entertainment and hospitality events.
Since its opening in 1988, the HKCEC has hosted numerous international conferences and welcomed millions of visitors from around the world. The stunning success of the “World Ophthalmology Congress 2008” and “Sibos 2009”, among many others, has affirmed HKCEC’s global reputation of event management and service excellence. It has been recently voted the Asia’s Best Convention and Exhibition Centre for the eighth time in the Industry Awards 2011 conducted by CEI Asia magazine, a leading industry publication.
Ms Lynne Pryor at MediTech Media, USA, the conference manager for the “Options for the Control of Influenza VII Conference 2010” attended by 1,500 delegates, said, “Along with the easy-access facilities for the conference and social events, the high-quality service and professionalism and proactive manner of HKCEC staff gave our delegates a great conference experience. Planning at a distance involves a lot of trust and we had the full support of the HKCEC team. They treated us like as part of their team and naturally thought ahead for our needs.”
The vote of confidence has won 20 international conferences for HKCEC in 2011, covering diversified subjects such as medical science, infrastructure, waste management, to retail and yoga. In addition, the “2012 FDI Annual World Dental Congress” has chosen the HKCEC as the venue for its centenary event to be held from 29 August to 1 September 2012 and is expected to attract 10,000 oral health professionals to the city.
The HKCEC houses venues of different sizes, which are highly versatile and practical, allowing flexibility and creativity for event organisers to enhance the overall event experience for conference delegates. All meeting rooms, theatres, exhibition halls, foyers and restaurants are now equipped with Wi-Fi.
Conferences to be held in February, May, June, July, August and December, enjoy a low-season rental discount. Forum Package and various one-stop-shop meeting packages are offered and tailored to suit the needs of conferences with different scales.
1) The magnificent HKCEC has hosted numerous international conferences with success and sustained Hong Kong’s title as Asia’s event capital.
2) The versatile and elegant Convention Hall seats 1,200 persons in a theatre setting and can be used as a media centre with Internet access.
3) The Meeting Packages include the essential equipment for successful and professional events.
4 & 5) Multi-purpose halls and ancillary spaces allow flexibility for conference organisers to hold plenary and breakout sessions, as well as social functions.
6) The HKCEC has two ball-room style halls, seven restaurants and other function rooms at organisers’ choice for hosting hospitality events.
