Make a product
at point A... then move it to point B. Sounds simple enough, but
at heart a healthy economy depends on it and an entire logistics
and transportation industry is built on it. The inaugural Logistics
Hong Kong Conference and Exhibition, held from 18-20 May at the
HKCEC, was a unique opportunity for government planners, senior
industry executives and transportation and logistics providers to
get together and assess industry trends and possibilities, with
special reference to the vast and growing needs of Hong Kong and
the Pearl River Delta (PRD) region. With the PRD now the world's
largest manufacturing centre and Hong Kong a leading global transport
and logistics hub, the value of the exhibition was indisputable,
a fact reflected in the levels of participation and media interest.
Over 80 companies exhibited at the HKCEC, a total of some 2,200
participants from over 30 countries took part in the event, and
around 66 media organizations were also in attendance a recognition
of the PRD region's importance as an industrial powerhouse, and
of Hong Kong as an efficient route into and out of the region. Organizer
Informa Maritime and Transport said the conference had generated
much interest and many business leads for participants as a result
of the number of senior executives and decision makers who attended.
And with demand for the event clearly established, Informa Maritime
and Transport are finalizing dates for a second Logistics Hong Kong
next year.
