ASTA in HK

As you might expect, the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) know all the best places to organize their industry conventions. Nearly 40 years after their last visit to Hong Kong in 1965, ASTA descended on the HKCEC from 28 September to 3 October for a six-day conference that included seminars, networking sessions, tours to Hong Kong landmarks and a trade show with nearly 400 exhibitors. ASTA is the world's biggest association of travel agents, so its decision to come to Hong Kong in 2004 could mean a lot for the city. Around 1,000 members of the 20,000-strong association made the trip, which gave many of them a chance to see Hong Kong close up and at first hand. Co-organizer of the convention, the Hong Kong Tourism Board, is optimistic that their visit to the city will encourage many more American travel agents to recommend Hong Kong to their customers as a great tourist destination.
