HTM anniversary
This year, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University's School
of Hotel and Tourism Management (HTM) celebrated 25
years of preparing students for careers in hospitality
and the tourism trade. Indeed, 14 of the HKCEC's own
current management staff are themselves graduates of
HTM. In celebration of this milestone, HTM put on an
anniversary dinner at the Convention Hall attended by
a large number of academics, graduates and industry
players. Over 700 attended the event, which was themed
around the title 'Glittering 25: Celebration of the
Stars'. Special events included a performance by renowned
pianist Choi Sown-le on a Bosendorfer grand piano decorated
with 9,000 Swarovski crystals, specially transported
from Vienna for the event. More glitter came with the
display of a crystal evening gown by major sponsor Thierry
Mugler. HTM has now launched over 10,000 talents into
Hong Kong's hospitality industry in its quarter century
of existence, and on the evidence of the anniversary
dinner, has built up a strong sense of loyalty and an
impressive 'old boy' network. We wish the School all
the best as it launches on its second 25 years!
