Meltin' with Elton

The HKCEC has a growing reputation for hosting big international stars — and they don't come much bigger than Sir Elton John! The evergreen musician took the Centre stage on 14 September in a generous 3-hour set that took in all of the classic oldies and not a few of the new. Though not quite as flamboyant as in his 70s heyday, there was no doubting the passion and technical mastery of Sir Elton as he thrilled the large audience with evergreen songs like 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road', 'Tiny Dancer', and 'Benny and the Jets'. The prolific artist is of course still regularly producing acclaimed albums, and he included some well-received songs from forthcoming release Peachtree Road in his set. The appreciative audience loved everything he gave them, showering him with bouquets and cheers in a fitting tribute to a true giant of pop music.
