From Monica Lee-Mˆ¢ller, Director of Business Development, HKCEC:

The HKCEC: that's entertainment!

Being the busy trading season in Spring, the Centre hosted some most important and successful trade fairs for the region, including the Asia Pacific Leather Fair, the Hong Kong Electronics Fair, the Hong Kong Houseware Fair and the Hong Kong Gifts and Premium Fair. These days, however, the magnificent venue is being increasingly recognised as a popular location to stage concerts, recitals and performances. The Centre's large, flexible auditoriums, versatile high-technology seating options, good acoustics, central location and high-quality on-site restaurants and cafes are all contributing to a rise in the number of local and international concerts being played here. This March alone, five top international artists chose the HKCEC for their Hong Kong performances, drawing large and appreciative audiences: Norah Jones packed Hall 3 with 8,000 fans, and Diana Krall performed in the Centre's spectacular Grand Hall. Boney M attracted 5,000 enthusiastic disco devotees, Avril Lavigne nearly 8,000 young fans, while R.E.M. drew in listeners from every generation.

With more and more organisers recognising the benefits of the Centre as a prime entertainment venue, we're expecting to see top international and local acts very regularly at the HKCEC. Coming up in June, for example, two more great international acts will be staged in the Centre. Robin Gibb is appearing from 9-11 June with a selection of solo hits and Bee Gees classics, while on 27 June Engelbert Humperdinck will be wowing her audience with his unique smooth and mellow sounds! In fact next time your favourite star drops in on Hong Kong, chances are you'll be able to enjoy the show in the splendid comfort of the HKCEC!
