Experience Counts

Newly-promoted Director of Business Development
Monica Lee-Müller

New Marketing and Sales Manager Veronica To

As reported in our cover story this month, personnel changes have taken place within the HKCEC's marketing and sales department which recognise the industry experience and extensive contribution of two of our senior executives.

Longstanding HKCEC executive Monica Lee-Müller, who first arrived some ten years ago and is now a seasoned industry insider, takes on challenges as the Director of Business Development, a role which will see her formulating and implementing new development plans to strategically maximise return and improve venue utilisation at the Centre. Meanwhile another HKCEC veteran, Ms Lee-Müller's former deputy Veronica To, has stepped up to take over the Marketing and Sales Manager position and maintain the department's momentum. Her special emphasis will be on creating, developing and implementing new marketing plans and strategies, and on maintaining the Centre's reputation for streamlined, efficient event scheduling.

Managing Director of the HKCEC Cliff Wallace commented with enthusiasm on the appointments. "Monica and Veronica's performance over the past ten or so years has been outstanding," he said. "I am confident that, with their leadership skills and extensive experience in the exhibition and convention sector, they are the best people to develop the HKCEC's financial performance and enhance its business opportunities in a more proactive and creative fashion."

Despite the promotions, some things will not change. Under Monica and Veronica, the marketing and sales team will continue living up to its reputation for efficiency and effectiveness in understanding our clients' needs.

TDC Trade Fair Portal

As part of its ongoing role of providing practical support to Hong Kong businesses, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council recently launched a comprehensive internet portal with links to seven new services industry websites. Each of these new websites acts as a platform providing information, links, and marketing and business matching opportunities for Hong Kong service providers and potential clients. To view the portal, take a look at http://hkservices.tdctrade.com.

The Trade Fair industry has its own dedicated website linked to the portal, with information specially tailored to the industry. Go to it directly at http://tradefair.tdctrade.com, where you can find the latest market news, business matching opportunities, profiles and success stories, as well as an event calendar, a useful Hong Kong company directory and plenty of relevant global links. It's a comprehensive resource for the trade fair industry, and one that's sure to be widely used.

New TDC Executive Director

Mr Lam's appointment will commence on May 1, 2004

After several successful years at the helm of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (TDC), Executive Director Mr Michael Sze is about to enjoy well-earned retirement. Stepping into his shoes as new Executive Director is Mr Frederick Lam, a longstanding and highly experienced TDC member whose in-depth knowledge of the trade industry and wide contacts in Hong Kong and beyond made him an obvious successor. Colleagues speak of his deep dedication to the TDC and to Hong Kong's business interests, reflected in an unfailing enthusiasm and an appetite for hard work. The HKCEC looks forward to working closely with Mr Lam in the future, and wishes him the very best for his tenure.
