Hospitality Design Asia
28 -29 June 2006

Hospitality That Looks Good

photo

Walk into any hotel, restaurant, bar or nightclub and you're surrounded by it: design. At its best, it marks out the style of an establishment, sending out a message about the kind of place it is and the kind of people that spend time there. None of this happens by accident of course! Hospitality Design Asia is the premier trade show for anyone involved in designing hospitality and entertainment venues across Asia. Running from 28 to 29 June at the HKCEC and organised by the renowned Hospitality Design Group, the show uniquely brings designers and architects together with owners and developers of hospitality venues, and then adds a huge variety of specialist suppliers of furniture, textiles, lighting, wallcoverings and art. That's a combination designed to get all the creative juices flowing!

Running at the same time is the Hospitality Design Asia Conference, where some of the industry's leading lights will be sharing their insights. With presentations on technology, environment, education and innovation, the conference promises to be topical and cutting edge.

Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair
6-10 September 2006

Ready to Tick

photo

How many different ways are there to tell the time? The principles of telling the time may be the same the world over, but the objects we use to tell time by are staggering in their diversity and technology. At the next edition of the Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair, to be held at the HKCEC from 6 to 10 September, visitors will be able to get a full taste of that diversity. The show, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, is the world's largest event of its kind, last year attracting over 16,000 buyers from around the globe. Visitors flood to this fair to sample the phenomenal range of timepieces put on display by hundreds of exhibitors (last year there were over 800, from 17 countries and regions). Besides watches and clocks of every shape and size, exhibitors also offer parts and components.

As its size suggests, the show is far more than a regional event. Last year's edition saw double-digit growth in buyers from as far afield as Australia and Brazil, as well as from Switzerland, the traditional home of watch and clock expertise! The organiser is expecting another bumper edition for 2006, with an exciting selection of styles, technologies and innovations in store.

MIPIM Asia 2006
27 -29 September 2006

Property Possibilities

photo

One of this year's most hotly awaited exhibitions is MIPIM Asia 2006, a brand-new event to be held at the HKCEC in September. It's an Asian-focused version of the annual MIPIM show held in Cannes, France and, like its French sister show, MIPIM Asia 2006 will target property developers, property investment and management companies, and government and local authorities. Running from 27 to 29 September, MIPIM Asia will combine conferences and seminars with exhibition opportunities for developers and property investors to market their wares. "The Asia Pacific region holds huge and often overlooked opportunities in the property sector," says organiser Reed MIPIM's CEO, Mr Paul Zilk. "We believe that MIPIM Asia will prove a unique chance for the international investment and end-user community to find out more about the multitude of investment opportunities here in the Asia Pacific." The forum will bring together international and local investors, corporate end-users, retailers and hotel groups under one roof with developers, government authorities and brokers to help forge the future of real estate in the region.

Interstoff Asia Autumn
Source It - an ASEAN event in Hong Kong
4-6 October 2006

Fashion and Function Combine at the Centre

photo

Last year organiser Messe Frankfurt adopted a 'one-stop-shop' concept for its Insterstoff Asia Autumn 2005 fair, and received excellent feedback on the format. Interstoff Asia is recognised world-wide as a premier marketing and sourcing platform for garments, fashion fabrics and functional textiles, but the organiser believes the 'one-stop-shop' idea can take it still further. From 4 to 6 October 2006 at the HKCEC, Interstoff Asia Autumn 2006 will not only present a huge range of garments and textiles in its 'creation', 'function' and 'fashion' categories, but it will link them closely with a number of related fringe programmes. These will include a series of 'Fabric-To-Fashion' fashion shows, a Designer's Corner, a Directions Trend Forum, and the ever-popular Interstoff Asia seminars. This year, the Directions Trend Forum will present a textile forecast for the 2007/08 Autumn and Winter season, providing designers and garment professionals with an invaluable design and marketing guide that should ensure their products tap into upcoming fashion trends.

Held alongside the upcoming Interstoff Asia Autumn 2006 fair will be Source It, the specialist fabric and apparel trade fair. The fair highlights and promotes products from the ASEAN region, and is jointly organised by the ASEAN Federation of Textile Industries (AFTEX) and Messe Frankfurt. Says AFTEX chairman Mr Phongsak Assakul, "This year we want to give our exhibitors a chance to showcase their winter collections, which is why we've chosen an autumn time-slot. We're confident that the October trading atmosphere will be just as dynamic as what we've experienced in the Spring."
