MIPIM Asia 2007
(28-30 November 2007)
Developing Success
MIPIM Asia is a business-to-business property exhibition
and conference that homes in on the Asia-Pacific region. The
event is dedicated to high-level real estate professionals
and provides excellent opportunities for international investors,
corporate end-users, hotel groups and retailers to meet property
developers with local expertise that are seeking investment
for projects in the most vibrant property market in the world.
Exhibiting companies showcased the latest projects to be
developed in the Asia Pacific region. A comprehensive real
estate conference programme was designed to help delegates
exploit the potential of the Asia Pacific market through more
than 20 sessions of keynote addresses, specialised panel debates
and interactive workshops.
This was the event's second edition, and it certainly built
on the foundations of 2006. A total of 1,052 companies from
54 countries participated, representing a 10% increase; of
these, 76 were from the key market of Japan, up from 30 in
2006. Impressive delegations also came from South Korea, Vietnam,
Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore and China. The calibre of
the participants was high, with the number of leading international
investment companies rising from 400 to 559 in 2007.
Outstanding construction projects in the region were honoured
in the first MIPIM Asia Awards, with candidates from
Japan and China taking six out of the seven categories.
The importance of MIPIM Asia was underlined by the
presence of Hong Kong's Financial Secretary Mr John Tsang
as the guest of honour at the opening ceremony.
The next edition will be held from 19 to 21 November 2008.

Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter 2008
(14-17 January, 2008)
Fashion Forecast
Asia's largest fashion event strutted itself on the catwalk
once again, as the glamour of the fashion world came to Hong
Kong. Hong Kong Fashion Week is a well-established
event that delivers the latest trends in apparel and accessories
to buyers the world over, from high-end evening gowns to mass-market
tee-shirts and denim wear, from kids clothing to bridal wear,
from lingerie to men's shirts.
The 2008 event played host to 1,490 exhibitors from 20 countries
and regions, including group pavilions from key garment manufacturing
areas, namely Mainland China, Taiwan, India, Korea and Macau.
A total of 23,700 buyers came through the doors of the four-day
show, almost half of them from overseas. Among those flocking
to the HKCEC eager to assess the trends for the Fall/Winter
season were representatives from fashion brands, leading chain
stores and distributors.
Running concurrently with Hong Kong Fashion Week is
its younger sister, World Boutique — and she is definitely
a well-dressed, trendy creature. This shop window puts fashion
labels and designer collections in the spotlight, and this
year showcased 366 brand names from 255 international exhibitors.
Live fashion shows are a major feature of Hong Kong
Fashion Week - every runway event was packed with buyers
and fashionistas, but the hottest tickets in town were for
the Hong Kong Young Designers' Contest on the opening night.
The next Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter will
be held from 12 to 15 January 2009. Please visit http://hkfashionweekfw.tdctrade.com/
