"Be
first in line, online" is the slogan of Ticketek Hong
Kong Ltd, a joint venture between the Hong Kong Ticketing
Alliance (comprising members of the HKCEC, the Society
of the Academy for Performing Arts and the Hong Kong
Arts Centre) and Ticketek.com, the leading ticketing
services company in Australia and New Zealand.
|
| Besides
online real time bookings and ticket purchase at www.ticketek.com.hk
for the best entertainment events in Hong Kong, the distribution
network includes a phone booking hotline, major venue
box offices sales, a retail agency network and self-service

In
2000, people in the industry we serve once again selected
the HKCEC for their international conferences. UFI (Union
des Foires Internationales) held its 67th Annual Congress
in October /November 2000, its 75th anniversary year, closely
followed by the 4th ICCA (International Congress & Convention
Association) Congress and Exhibition. A tribute to what Tuula
Lindberg, ICCA's president, described as "the relaxed atmosphere
of the HKCEC" and to the fabulous sights and experience Hong
Kong has to offer.

Staying
with attractions for organisers, the Hong Kong Tourism Board,
formerly Hong Kong Tourist Association, and the Hong Kong
Trade Development Council are inviting members of AEO (the
Association of Exhibition Organisers) to a showcase presentation
of what the HKCEC and Hong Kong together can offer. "Hong
Kong - AEO Members Familiarisation Visit" will take place
from 9 to 13 July 2001.

This
column would not be complete without a mention of the HKCEC's
latest awards. For the 8th consecutive year, we were judged
"Best Overseas Centre" by the readership panels made up of
key industry executives of Meetings and Incentive Travel (IM
& IT).
In addition,
the HKCEC was elected among the top three in the "Engineering
Wonders in Hong Kong" event organised by the Hong Kong Institution
of Engineers in collaboration with the Leisure and Cultural
Services Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government and the
Hong Kong Science Museum.

to positions on two prominent Hong Kong boards. He now serves
as Director and Vice Chairman of Ticketek Hong Kong Ltd, and
as Non-executive Director and Audit Committee Chairman of
New World Services Ltd, the parent of the private company
that holds the long-term contract to manage and operate the
HKCEC.
